Update on Repairs and Renovations to
Hillsboro's
Old Stone School Kitchen
The entire kitchen was destroyed including the plaster walls, ceiling, floor, and window. On the outside of the window (measuring 42”’ x 80’ inside), the keystone above the window and stones surrounding it have fallen out. Inside the kitchen, all of the contents were destroyed, including:
The entire kitchen was gutted, and will be expanded into where the men's bathroom had been. The framing and inspection have been completed, and cabinets and counters have been ordered.

Hillsboro ’s Old Stone School
The original name of the school was Locust Grove Academy. The oldest part of the building, the east wing, where the fire occurred, was built in 1874. Read more...About the HCA
The HCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and maintaining Hillsboro’s Old Stone School. Funds to help fulfill this charter come from membership fees, rental fees, and donations.
