Homes on the 2008 Christmas in Hillsboro Homes Tour
Silverbrook Farm
(View photos)
The original section of this stone house was built sometime prior to 1768, consisting of a keeping room with a cooking fireplace and a loft above. A larger stone addition with two interior chimneys was built to the south in the early 1800's, and yet another frame addition was built on the rear consisting of a kitchen and a loft. The old house has six fireplaces, all operational. Two main sections upstairs are still separated by a massive stone wall. In 1998, a two-story retirement wing was added to the south. The old and new sections are connected by the enclosed old back porch. Dependencies include a bank barn, corn crib, spring house, and a smokehouse which has been converted to a charming guest cottage. Dot Shetterly and her family invite you to enjoy their home.
