Homes on the 2008 Christmas in Hillsboro Homes Tour!

Ferrell House (View photos)
The Ferrell house was first purchased around 1939 by Nelson Ferrell, who lived on the hill behind the house until he had saved up enough money to purchase the home. The original Victorian-style house was built in 1898 on a stone foundation. The current owners, Steve and Kim Zurschmeide, bought the house in 2002 and started renovations in keeping with the home’s Victorian charm. These include a front parlor and wrap-around porch. In 2004, the Zurschmeide’s built a log cabin addition with the same charm and style as many other historic homes in our area. Family heirlooms, such as a butcher block used by Mr. Zurschmeide’s great, great grandfather who was a meat butcher, and other special items including a table made of reclaimed wood from 1700’s barns, are featured on the tour.
