Homes on the 2008 Christmas in Hillsboro Homes Tour!

Buckskin Manor (View photos)
This 64-acre farm, situated on the western slope of Short Hill Mountain, in the area known as Between the Hills, can be traced back to 1752.  Restoration of the 18th century property and its location suggest that Buckskin Manor may have been originally built as a tavern.  The unusually large (almost 2200 sq. ft.), 2 and 1/2 story, log and mortar structure has exposed chestnut logs, beamed ceilings, heart pine floors and fieldstone fireplaces with remarkable 8 ft. lintels.  The present owners, Jeff and Gail Bogert, have added an 800 sq.ft. addition on the western end of the manor.  Prior additions include a family room off the eastern end and a 2-story front wing which accommodates an entry hall, formal dining room and laundry on the ground floor and a large bath/dressing room for the master bedroom on the second floor.  Several outbuildings, including the original smokehouse and two room springhouse, have been restored.  A guest cottage and a 4-stall horse barn complete the property.
