July 2009
Independence Day Celebration, Friday July 3
Bring your friends and family to Hillsboro’s Old Stone School on Friday, July 3 for the Hillsboro Community Association's annual Independence Day celebration! Festivities will start at 6:00.

We're happy to welcome back Hewn from the Mountain, who will perform live music during our celebration, along with the Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers who will perform on stage while the free ice cream is being served. You may buy a delicious BBQ chicken dinner from the Ruritans or bring your own picnic dinner! You’ll also be able to get sweets and treats at the HCA’s bake sale.

There will be all sorts of fun things for the kids, including a moonbounce and games where they’ll have a chance to win prizes. You’ll also be able to get tickets for a chance to win great prizes donated by local businesses and organizations, including Breaux Vineyards, Grandale Farm Restaurant, Hunt Country Jewelers, New Life Antiques, Newton Marasco Foundation, Salon Alure, Stoneybrook Organic Farm, and Zurschmeide Contracting. All proceeds from ticket sales for the games and prizes, along with the bake and drink sales, will go to the HCA for continued preservation and maintenance of the Old Stone School. The event is free, though we welcome donations for the fireworks and the HVAC for to preserve the work done on our historic building in the past year. And remember, donations are tax-deductible!

After all the fun, food, and games, we’ll have our brilliant fireworks show to top off the evening! We hope you will join us for this wonderful community tradition! And, if you'd like to volunteer to help with the celebration, please email us at contact@hillsborova.com.
