First Annual Old Stone School Reunion, April 18

The Hillsboro Community Association (HCA) and the Town of Hillsboro joined together to host the first annual Old Stone School Reunion! It was part of the HCA's "Spring at Hillsboro's Old Stone School" event held April 18."Spring at Hillsboro's Old Stone School" is a celebration of the people who have contributed to the rich history of Hillsboro's Old Stone School, and to celebrate this treasured building which was saved from being demolished almost 35 years ago and beautifully restored after the 2008 fire.

During our Spring event, we had special events planned just for Old Stone School alumni, including:

• Opportunities to contribute to an Old Stone School book
• Chance to win a wonderful door prize
• Opportunities to share your memories with each other, and with our other guests
• Opportunity to tour the newly renovated building

All former Old Stone School students and teachers received a corsage or boutonnière.

Everyone in the greater Hillsboro area were invited to our celebration of “Spring at Hillsboro 's Old Stone School,” and enjoyed:

• A performance by Maddy Curtis who performed on stage at the Old Stone School theater before she became our own local “American Idol”
• Remarks by Congressman Frank Wolf (invited)
• Perspectives from Supervisor Jim Burton, long-time steward of the Old Stone School
• Recollections from Dot Shetterly, former teacher and student at the Old Stone School, and life-long resident of the greater Hillsboro area
• A reception
