Great Independence Day Celebration at Hillsboro's Old Stone School!

Hundreds of people joined us for our annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday July 2, 2011. Here is what people who joined us enjoyed at our small town celebration:

• Music by the Polka Dots and Jake and the Burtones
• Performance by the Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers
• Free ice cream donated by Dot Shetterly and the Hill Tom Market
• Interactive display about the Valiant Warriors Project with a chance to make a square to be integrated into a quilt by Joshua's Hands
• BBQ chicken dinners prepared and sold by the Ruritans
• Sweets, treats, and cold drinks at the HCA bake sale
• Carnival games and prizes
• Face painting by Ace of Face (10% of proceeds will be donated to the HCA)
• Balloon twisting by Fun Balloon Twisting (10% of proceeds will be donated to the HCA)
• Moonbounce
• Drawings for prizes donated by the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers, Breaux Vineyards, Grandale Farm Restaurant, Hunt Country Jewelers, Joshua's Hands, Run Rabbit Run Theatre, and Stoneybrook Farm Market
• Sneak peak of Run Rabbit Run Theatre's "All for the Union in Confederate Virginia," which will be on stage at the Old Stone School weekends from
  July 9 - 24
• Chance to meet some of the cast of "All for the
  Union in Confederate Virginia"
• FIREWORKS!!!

Thank you to Boy Scout Troop 961, Zurschmeide Contracting, along with all of our volunteers...it takes more than 60 volunteers to hold our celebration, and we couldn't do it without your help!
